About the role

The team designs high-performance integrated photonic components and circuits for a silicon photonic quantum computer. This role combines device and circuit modeling with data analysis, so that designs can be checked against measured performance. It works closely with system, foundry and test groups.

What you'll do

  • Work with the system team on product requirements and help build the screening plan for photonic integrated circuits.
  • Build data-driven models of photonic devices and circuits.
  • Design and optimize multi-component photonic circuits.
  • Analyze measurement data to understand how devices and circuits perform.
  • Write and deploy software for photonic design and data analysis projects.
  • Work with foundry and testing specialists on circuit validation, screening and improvement.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Materials Science.
  • About 5 years of work or academic research experience in integrated photonics.
  • In-depth knowledge of photonic devices, including performance metrics and test methods.
  • Extensive Python experience for scientific computing and automation.
  • Extensive experience designing photonics with commercial simulation software.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Visa path

People in photonic device and circuit design roles often support an O-1A case with peer-reviewed publications, patents, citations, and evidence of original contributions to integrated photonics. Judging roles, high pay and critical employment can also count. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this, or a U.S. agent, can file the petition, and approval depends on the individual's evidence.
