About the role
The role sits on an art team and works across animation systems for game characters. It connects animators with designers and programmers, turning the animation team's creative goals into working runtime behavior. The person is the main contact for animation implementation and technical problems.
What you'll do

- Design and implement animation state machines, behaviors and runtime solutions.
- Translate the animation leadership's creative vision into technical setups while protecting style consistency.
- Troubleshoot in-game animation problems together with design and programming colleagues.
- Find ways to improve the animation pipeline and workflow, and write documentation and training for the animators.

- Expertise with animation pipelines, including Maya, MotionBuilder and an engine's rigging toolset.
- Familiarity with gameplay animation concepts such as blend trees, state machines and animation blueprints.
- Experience in AAA game development, ideally on a large team with an established engine.
- Understanding of generative AI tools as they apply to character animation, plus strong written communication.
Nice to have
