About the role
This hands-on scientist joins the protein analytics and biophysics group to characterize protein quality, stability, developability and binding for discovery programs. The data also feeds a machine-learning-driven design platform. The role combines method development, troubleshooting and representing the group on project teams.
What you'll do
- Run analytical and biophysical workflows that assess protein stability, aggregation, self-association, polyreactivity and other developability traits.
- Develop, optimize and troubleshoot separation methods such as chromatography for protein characterization.
- Perform and expand binding analyses, with a strong emphasis on SPR and related kinetic or affinity assays.
- Contribute to mass spectrometry work on protein identity, mass, heterogeneity and modifications, and link it with biophysical data.
- Lead method development, evaluate new assays and help set best practices.
- Define analytical plans with project teams and communicate results, limitations and recommended follow-up studies.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and automated platforms.
Requirements
- PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, analytical chemistry, protein science or a related field with 4+ years of research experience, or an MS with 8+ years; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Hands-on expertise in biophysical characterization of proteins, including stability, aggregation and developability assessments.
- Practical experience with protein separation science such as SEC, IEX, HIC or capillary electrophoresis.
- Demonstrated ability to plan experiments independently, troubleshoot complex workflows and interpret data.
- Method-development experience applying scientific principles to new analytical questions.
- Ability to represent a technical function on cross-functional teams and communicate conclusions and risks.
Nice to have
- Experience with SPR is strongly preferred; BLI or other kinetic and affinity assays are also valued.
- Experience with mass spectrometry, proteomics, structural mass spectrometry or molecular barcoding, or willingness to learn them.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or leading workflow improvements.
- Interest in work linking protein analytics, data science and machine-learning-enabled discovery.

Visa path
Scientists in protein biophysics typically document an O-1A case with publications, citations, patents, peer-review activity and evidence of leading methods or projects. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this or a U.S. agent can file the petition, and the result depends on the individual's own record.
