About the role

This open call is for exceptional technical people who have found a specific gap between what humanoids do today and human-level capability, and who can show a path to close it. The role sits in a lab that carries ideas from research through product integration. It is not tied to a fixed roadmap, so candidates are expected to originate and validate their own projects.

What you'll do

  • Develop and validate technologies that move humanoid capability toward human-level performance.
  • Show measurable gains through rigorous experiments, benchmarking and real-world validation.
  • Turn novel research ideas into working prototypes or platforms that can be evaluated and integrated.
  • Identify and overcome fundamental technical bottlenecks in current robot performance.
  • Create credible paths from early research to scalable product implementation.
  • Work across sensing, actuation, control and intelligence as the problem requires.

Requirements

  • Evidence of at least one of: a first-author or equivalent high-impact publication, a prototype or technology that advanced the state of the art, or founding a deep-technology venture.
  • Alternatively, a track record of carrying complex technical ideas from concept to implementation and validation.
  • Exceptional depth in at least one relevant field, with the ability to reason across adjacent disciplines.
  • Ability to independently originate, develop and validate ambitious ideas.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous settings with little predefined structure.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in robotics, AI, controls, sensing, actuation, materials, manufacturing, neuroscience or biomechanics.
  • Experience building and validating physical systems in real environments.
  • Experience leading highly technical projects or research efforts.
  • Ability to translate research into deployable products.

Pay & benefits

USD 250k–300k + equity. The posting lists medical, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and parental leave, a 401(k) with company match, FSA/HSA options, commuter benefits, disability and life insurance, and an assistance program, plus equity.

Visa path

Researchers and founders in robotics often support an O-1A case with first-author publications, citations, patents, evidence of original contributions, prior startup leadership and a high salary. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this, or a U.S. agent, can file the petition if the evidence meets the standard; approval is decided by the government and is not assured.
