About the role
This team is building a targeted lipid nanoparticle platform to carry nucleic acid payloads to cells and tissues beyond the liver. The scientist designs, formulates and characterizes particles carrying antibody, nanobody, scFv and peptide targeting groups. The work feeds the company's pipeline programs by turning in vitro and in vivo results into the next design cycle.
What you'll do
- Design lipid nanoparticle compositions and conjugation chemistries for antibodies, nanobodies, scFvs and peptides aimed at extra-hepatic targets.
- Plan conjugation and purification workflows with scale and final purity in mind from the start.
- Test targeting lipids using a structure-activity approach to guide each following design round.
- Develop conjugation chemistry in-house or with external partners, and build processes so research teams can test the particles in vivo.
- Convert in vitro and in vivo data from discovery teams into structural hypotheses and refine composition or targeting molecule choice.
- Present results and SAR conclusions and write protocols and technical reports.
Requirements
- PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry or a related field plus 1–2 years of relevant work, or an MS with 5 years of focused targeted LNP design experience.
- Hands-on skill designing and formulating targeted lipid nanoparticles independently.
- Working knowledge of conjugation chemistries, linker design and site-specific or bioorthogonal handles for attaching targeting moieties.
- Practical purification skills including normal- and reverse-phase chromatography, size-exclusion and preparative HPLC.
- Analytical characterization experience with LC-CAD, LC-UV, DLS, CE, bio-layer interferometry and surface plasmon resonance.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with novel conjugation chemistries and reaction methods.
- Targeting moiety optimization experience for immune and endothelial cells.
- Exposure to scale-up process development, CMC or tech transfer to a CDMO.
- Data visualization and statistical analysis experience in R, Python or JMP.

Visa path
People in nucleic acid delivery science often support an O-1A petition with peer-reviewed publications, patents, citations, invited talks, peer review service and evidence of original contributions to the field. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this one or a U.S. agent can file the petition, and approval depends on the individual's evidence.
