About the role
The mRNA Engineering team makes the research-grade mRNA that supports the company's reprogramming and delivery research. This role runs the workflow from DNA template through in vitro transcription and purification, and hands the material to research and delivery scientists. It is designed for an early-career scientist who wants hands-on training in mRNA process development.
What you'll do
- Carry out established protocols for DNA template preparation, in vitro transcription and downstream purification to make research-grade mRNA
- Run routine analytical assays that check mRNA integrity and purity
- Help senior scientists troubleshoot production problems and run experiments to improve yield, purity and recovery
- Record every experiment in electronic lab notebooks and help write and update SOPs
- Track mRNA and raw material inventory, order reagents, and keep lab equipment in working order
- Coordinate material needs with delivery and research teams and present results at team meetings
Requirements
- B.S. in life sciences, chemistry, engineering or a related field with 1–2 years of full-time industry or academic research experience, or an M.S. in life sciences
