About the role

This scientist looks for algorithms and applications that fit the qubit counts and operation budgets of near-term fault-tolerant neutral-atom machines. The work is hands-on co-design with customers, covering resource estimation, application finding, QEC gadget design and subroutine optimization. The goal is to show where such machines can deliver practical value.

What you'll do

  • Deliver customer co-design projects from scoping and algorithm prototyping through hardware runs and results.
  • Work with hardware, QEC theory, compiler and software teams to get what each project needs.
  • Estimate application-level resources and use them to fit executions onto early fault-tolerant hardware.
  • Develop fault-tolerant algorithmic subroutines and QEC gadgets tuned for high-rate codes.
  • Survey classical and quantum methods across industry verticals to find high-value applications and advantage crossover points.
  • Publish results and present at leading quantum computing venues.

Requirements

  • PhD in physics, math, computer science, quantum information science or a similar field.
  • Expertise in quantum information science and computing fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of modern quantum error correction techniques.
  • Scientific coding experience in Python.
  • Strong written and oral communication.

Nice to have

  • Postdoc or quantum computing industry experience.
  • Customer-focused project development experience.
  • Expertise in a vertical such as logistics, finance, chemistry, biotech or machine learning.
  • Strong publication record in quantum information or a related field.
  • Familiarity with gate-based neutral-atom quantum computing.

Pay & benefits
