About the role

This role sits on a team building neutral-atom quantum computers and focuses on the theory that makes their logical qubits reliable. The scientist designs error correction codes and fault-tolerant protocols suited to the hardware, and works with theory, software and experimental groups to test how well logical operations perform.

What you'll do

  • Develop quantum error correction codes and fault-tolerant protocols for neutral-atom hardware
  • Design hardware-efficient schemes for fault-tolerant logical operations
  • Benchmark logical performance and report results to theory, software and experimental colleagues
  • Work across disciplines to move protocols from theory toward implementation
  • Advance fault-tolerant quantum algorithms and logical operations
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners on joint research

Requirements

  • PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science, mathematics or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in quantum error correction and a solid foundation in quantum computing
  • Research contributions in error correction shown through publications or software
  • Scientific programming skills in Python, C++ or a comparable language
  • Strong written and verbal communication across disciplines

Nice to have

  • Experience designing fault-tolerant logical operations or estimating their resource costs
  • Circuit-level error correction simulation, noise modeling and logical error benchmarking
  • Experimental collaboration or hardware implementation of error correction, especially with neutral atoms
  • Development of high-performance or real-time decoders in software or hardware
  • High-performance computing or machine learning applied to error correction

Pay & benefits

USD 130,400–211,900 base + equity. The posting states that all new hires receive equity grants in addition to base salary. No other benefits are listed.

Visa path

Researchers in quantum error correction commonly document extraordinary ability through peer-reviewed publications, citations, invited talks, peer review service and original contributions such as widely used code or software. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this one or a U.S. agent can file an O-1A petition, subject to the candidate's own record and a case-by-case review.
