Role familyRocket Propulsion Engineer (Liquid / Hypersonic)

About the role

The propulsion team develops large liquid rocket engines and is now qualifying the flight configuration while exploring thrust upgrades, new cycles and designs for mass production. The engineer takes cradle-to-grave ownership of a combustion-device component, from design through manufacturing, test, qualification and flight. These parts face extreme temperatures and pressures, so the role carries direct accountability for hardware decisions.

What you'll do

  • Own an assigned combustion hardware component across its whole lifecycle
  • Design the component and carry it through manufacturing and testing
  • Support qualification and flight of the engine hardware
  • Coordinate with other disciplines on thermal, structural and fluid requirements
  • Take part in work on future engine upgrades, including higher thrust and new cycles

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field
  • At least 2 years of experience developing propulsion or combustion components or related hardware
  • Applied knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal, structural and fluids fundamentals

Nice to have

  • Rocket engine development or test experience
  • Evidence of ownership from school or work
  • Working knowledge of engine subsystems such as combustion devices, heat exchangers and ducting
  • Exposure to powder bed additive manufacturing and automation

Pay & benefits

USD 104k–156k. The posting lists competitive salary and equity, paid time off and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
