About the role

This role sits on the engine manufacturing team that builds combustion device hardware for a new main engine and a vacuum engine variant. The team iterates quickly on hardware, working closely with design engineers to improve cost, quality and lead time. The engineer owns the manufacturing side of that hardware from concept through build.

What you'll do

  • Own manufacturing engineering for combustion device hardware from early development through production.
  • Design and model tooling and fixtures used for fabrication, assembly and test.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions and procedures for complex assemblies.
  • Drive hardware through several workcenters, clearing bottlenecks to hold engine development schedules.
  • Work with the machine shop, additive manufacturing, supply chain and propulsion design to improve manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot hardware problems hands-on and find ways to raise quality, reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in aerospace, mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience in hands-on hardware development, manufacturing, fabrication or testing.
  • Demonstrated experience designing mechanical tooling or fixtures independently from concept to implementation.
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD, preferably Siemens NX or SolidWorks, creating original designs.
  • Ability to coordinate across workcenters and work independently on ambiguous problems under aggressive schedules.

Nice to have

  • 3 or more years of hands-on hardware development or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with combustion devices, rocket propulsion or other aerospace hardware.
  • Experience with prototype or early-stage hardware and iterative build and test.
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures or test equipment for complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience in a rapid development setting where requirements change often.

Pay & benefits

USD 104k–156k. The posting lists competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.

Visa path

People in propulsion hardware roles often support an O-1A case with evidence such as critical roles on flight-hardware programs, patents, publications, technical awards, and recognition from peers or industry. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this, or a U.S. agent, can file an O-1A petition for a qualifying candidate, though approval depends on the individual's evidence and is not assured.
