About the role
The company is building prototype subsystems that generate entangled photon states and will scale into a datacenter-sized quantum computer. This manager leads the team that validates fully integrated subsystems spanning photonics, optics, cryogenics, electronics, firmware and software. The role exists to prove subsystem performance and to create new characterization and verification methods for photonic qubit states.
What you'll do
- Manage the validation team, including technical oversight, project planning, coaching and performance reviews.
- Write and execute validation and verification plans against a demanding development schedule.
- Plan integration test points across hardware, firmware and software so issues are caught early.
- Define the calibration, self-test and diagnostic functions, including quantum tests at intermediate points.
- Give other engineering teams design-for-test, calibration and data-acquisition requirements and debugging support.
- Assess in situ subsystem performance while it operates inside a larger system.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects integrating optical and electronic hardware, firmware, software and data infrastructure.
- Experience in some or all of: quantum optics and single-photon generation and detection, quantum characterization and verification, integrated silicon photonics, mixed-signal or RF electronics, electro-optical device design and test.
- Proven ability to design and run complex experiments or engineering tests in a cross-functional setting.
- Ability to work across departments, sites and time zones.
- Strong written and verbal communication with leadership and technical experts.

Visa path
People in quantum photonics validation roles often support an O-1A case with evidence such as publications, patents, conference talks, peer review, leadership of critical technical teams and high compensation. The posting states no citizenship restriction. An employer like this, or a U.S. agent, can file an O-1A petition for a qualified candidate, though approval depends on the individual's evidence.
