About the role

The head coach leads the men's under-20 national team and prepares it for international competition. The role connects the weekly environments where players develop with the demands of the senior national side. It exists to turn age-grade talent into future senior internationals.

  • Lead the coaching group and bring analysis, athlete performance, medical and operations support into one plan.
  • Work with the pathways lead on player evaluation, selection, development priorities and transitions.
  • Design clear training that fits short international preparation windows and players from varied backgrounds.
  • Use match evidence and agreed KPIs to guide review, feedback and training.
  • Stay in regular contact with players and their club, college and development environments.

Requirements

  • Evidence of effective coaching and player development in competitive rugby.
  • Ability to teach, simplify complex information and help players apply it under pressure.
  • Strong game understanding and selection judgment, with experience leading coaches and support staff.
  • Ability to adapt a game model to the players available while staying aligned with the national program.
  • Commitment to athlete welfare and openness to feedback.
  • Availability for the stated preparation, camp, competition and travel dates, from May to July.
