About the role

This role leads the visual direction of a new, not-yet-released 3D game in research and development. The art director turns the creative vision into a distinctive, production-ready visual identity that supports gameplay and character appeal. The post sits between creative leadership, game leadership and the cross-disciplinary teams that build the game.

What you'll do

  • Guide the game's visual identity from early concept through full production.
  • Turn the creative vision into clear visual standards, production practices and scalable art workflows.
  • Protect visual quality, character appeal and gameplay readability across all player-facing art, animation and VFX.
  • Build, lead and mentor internal art teams and direct co-development partners and outside vendors.
  • Work with design, narrative, audio, engineering, product and IP colleagues so the art supports the player experience.
  • Give clear visual feedback through reviews, paintovers and references.

Requirements

  • 12+ years developing games, including 8+ years leading art teams.
  • Served as art director or key artistic decision maker on at least one shipped 3D game.
  • Experience delivering strong character appeal in both modeling and animation.
  • Solid grasp of pipelines and technical limits for stylized visuals, and balancing quality against production and team-size constraints.
  • Experience directing external vendors or distributed art teams.
  • A portfolio showing artistic judgment, composition and stylistic range, plus experience with modern game engines.

Nice to have

  • Art direction for live-service, multiplayer or other technically constrained games.
  • 3D games with high demands on character appeal, animation, VFX, camera or combat clarity.
  • Working knowledge of stylized rendering, VFX and animation for gameplay clarity.
