About the role

A residential sports academy wants an assistant coach to work beside its head tennis coach on everything that turns a strong junior into a college or pro prospect: daily training, tournament prep, match review, recruiting and travel. The players are full-time student-athletes, so the job also covers mentoring, family communication and long-term development.

What you'll do

  • Plan and run practices and individual development plans
  • Coach stroke production, footwork, point construction, match tactics and competitive decision-making
  • Prepare players for tournaments: scheduling, scouting, post-match review and benchmarking
  • Use video analysis and performance technology, and work with athletic trainers and sports science on load and recovery
  • Guide athletes through college placement and recruiting
  • Travel with athletes to tournaments, showcases and camps, and help run camps and clinics

Requirements

  • A high level of tennis coaching and athlete development skill
  • Playing, coaching or managing experience at collegiate, academy, club, national or professional level
  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, business or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication and organization, and comfort in a high-performance environment
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays, outdoors in Florida heat

Nice to have

  • Coaching elite or nationally ranked players
  • Tennis performance analytics and video analysis
  • College recruiting and placement experience
  • Bilingual (preferred in the posting)
  • CPR certification and a valid driver's license for team travel

Pay & benefits

Visa path

An assistant role alone does not make an O-1. The O-1A fits coaches who can document a record: players they developed to national rankings, college scholarships or pro events; national-team or federation roles; coaching certifications at the top level; and press. If you have that, an academy like this, or an agent covering several programs, can petition.
